Personality: Life has taken its toll on Monks: sad and mostly joyless, his detective works is the only thing he pursues with passion. It is almost an obsession. His relentless search of the supernatural is at odds with his unwillingness to accept the unknown. He rarely shows any emotion, be it anger or love. He fears getting close to anyone but Ayida and deals with others in a cold, businesslike fashion.
History:
Monks' childhood was pretty standard. He lived in a happy home and had a decent stretch at school. He had goals of becoming a veterinarian, but when he was a young man he enlisted in the army. He fought for his country in the war, but this changed him. He still cared deeply for animals, but his attitude toward people had shifted entirely. Near the end of his tour he rescued a young dog from a war-torn area and kept it with him.
In what Monks could only describe as a supernatural event, he and his dog, Ayida, were the only survivors of a bloody battle. It was if the bullets and explosions were pushed off course, never straying near enough to hit them. This too changed him and, even though, he'd earned accommodations for his service, he never felt he deserved them.
When he returned to the states, he abandoned his dream of becoming a veterinarian and went to the detective field. Specializing in "supernatural" cases, he hopes to some day find evidence of the paranormal.

Appearance: Monks is an older African American gentleman with a large scar over one eye which runs down the length of his face. He is an imposing figure: he stands at 6'5'' with impressive bulk. Following his retirement as detective Monks has ditched his trench coat and tie for a more casual outfit: dark green slacks (high-waisted) with simple white t-shirt. Though in public he tends to add his old military jacket on top, dark green with a few medals, if zipped up it gives his outfit a zoot suit like appearance. His hair is no longer neatly kept shaven either, or his grown out to cover his ears and forehead but due to one unfortunate haircut that his hair never fully recover from he wears it in dreads.

Personality: Ayida is a playful, energetic dog with the spirit of a puppy. However, she is fiercely loyal and can quickly flip the switch from playful to deadly.

Ayida was born in a town heavily affected by the war: people were driven to the extreme to survive. As a dog this simply meant there was less for her to eat, but as the war got worse the people began using their pets as sources of food. As her family started to disappear, Ayida took to the wilderness to survive. It was tough living for a young dog, but she managed to survive. Eventually the people of her town found her and backed her into a corner. A mysterious wolf spirit appeared to save her. She wandered for months after this encounter, hatred of humanity growing. That is, until she met Monks.
Notable Skills: As a dog, Ayida is stronger and faster than your average human. She is often underestimated.
Notable Weaknesses: Meat, canine physiology limits her somewhat

Appearance: Ayida is a large white Akita. She can often be seen smoking a pipe.

Ability: When Ayida barks growls or howls, she can create a small gust of wind. Her gusts, while powerful (maxing out around 120 km/h), are relatively concentrated and cannot affect a large amount of targets at once. The embodiment of her stand is a swirling mass of wind and lacks the ability to physically strike or be struck in the manner of many other stands. It is essentially a sentient gust which is capable of compressing itself into a visible form.
