Communications Relay, Inside Team
The Green Mech was sure it had Cheap Thrills where it wanted it… Then why had its staff hit nothing? The harpoons that held it in place hadn't been cut and yet - Clang! Cheap Thrill’s blade made contact with the UN Mech’s head. It pushed back against the sword slowly, using its thrusters to move upward. There was no split in the armor, only a scratch where Durendal had scraped off some the mech’s green paint job. Durendal flew back, the mech’s giant column-like staff striking it with an upward thrust before being thrust at Cheap Thrill’s head. The staff was several meters thick and easily 15 meters long but as a weapon it seemed… Unimpressive. It appeared to be a simple blunt tool.
Light Up the Night was back on its feet quickly, perhaps unsurprisingly, following its knockdown. Derek searched the ground nearby for any sign of where the mech had exited but much to his chagrin there wasn't even a seam visible in the grass. Of course, Derek knew there was an opening right beside him. So, if he wanted to try to blow it open he at least had a shot of finding a weak point. The inspection of his mech’s foot found a small metal disc that certainly didn't belong. It seems that Purple Mech was the pranking type. Other Rebel pilots might not have had the foresight to check for something like that but Derek was more focused. The disc itself didn't seem entirely dangerous at the moment but if Derek did try to disturb it there was a chance that it might activate. It seems he had a few choices to make.
Roxy’s gambit was a risky one but it seemed as though she was making it through the field of mines just fine. After all, these mines had to have a smaller proximity trigger than the mines Akita warned them about or they would already have went off. The tower she approached still had other defenses and instead of turning their guns on her they shot the mines... Activating them! Poor Roxy was caught in an explosion of pink goo. Strangely, it didn't seem to be a very damaging explosion but the pink goo that had covered her mech seemed very sticky. She was actually slowing down a bit, had some of the sticky goo seeped into her thrusters? Now Roxy had to deal with a mech that had slower movements than she was used to while approaching a heavily armed tower. Would she even be able to take the tower in this state? Even her mech’s limbs moved more slowly. It was almost like being underwater.
Thanks to his stand Alex managed to cling to the outside of his mech while it moved, making progress in cutting some of the arms free of the net. As he worked he would notice that two of the arms, in separate places, had been welded to the Mech’s body. Without an actual tool shop fixing those arms so they could detach would be impossible. When had this happened? Monolit wasn't good for much more than punching but thankfully that was a simple enough task for it to do on Autopilot. The guns that it hit took heavy damage as they peppered the Rebel Mech with bullets. If Alex's conversation with Nico had involved more than soda he might have been warned of the dangers of leaving his mech in this particular UN Base, but it didn't cover more than a man mourning his soda. Remaining Anti-Air guns turned their attention to Monolit and Alex: firing dozens of missiles at the mech from all sides. Dodging all of them seemed impossible on autopilot.
Communications Relay, Outside Team
Bomber Barbara was no slouch and Gilles was clearly an experienced pilot. The way he dodged the discs seemed effortless, a beautiful dancing wind. Gilles’ attitude was less than graceful, but great pilots were rarely humble. Gilles’ behavior and even his piloting was not the norm but the Purple Mech didn't seem to care about either aspect. In fact, it didn't even make to avoid BB as it approached. However, it did turn its head away from the forcefield on which it stood to look up at BB. It raised one hand, toward Gilles and shot a finger gun harmlessly at his mech. From this angle Gilles could clearly see golden lettering on the mech’s chest which read: Lavender Lady. Behind BB there were suddenly several small explosions. The discs! Had the Lavender Lady’s hand gesture been the trigger or was it a warning? Whatever the case, large amounts of a viscous pink liquid were threatening to rain upon BB. Perhaps Gilles should reconsider his trajectory.
Willie’s plan to spread Yellow Snow onto the net worked just fine but unfortunately the net continued tightening on its own accord, making getting it off of Peaches en Regalia almost impossible. If he could manage to loosen the net maybe he would be able to sling it over the Lavender Lady, but right now he was just a fly buzzing around her annoyingly. The Lavender Lady’s thrusters began to fire in rapid succession again but instead of mimicking its previous forward momentum, it was more of a whipping motion as it brought the giant canon it wielded crashing into Peaches en Regalia’s legs. Though, it seemed like it had intended for this to be more of a body blow... Maybe the canon was too heavy to strike a fast mech like Willie’s head on like that.
Nat’s plan to use the ball of scrap metal as her own weapon proved effective. Far more effective than her previous attacks. Each missile or laser she blocked with it sent a bit of shrapnel flying into her mech but it was nothing Lightning couldn't handle. The scrap ball’s assault was so effective in taking down guns that it drew the attention of the Lavender Lady. Unfortunately for Nat it seemed the UN Mech may have foreseen a similar outcome and turned its large cannon at Lightning once again. A second scrap ball was now flying at her mech and it seemed doubtful that her own scrap ball would hold together well enough to block the new one.
Nico was thankfully given enough of a respite from the UN to pull herself and her mech back together. Perhaps the UN had thought she was defeated and didn't want to waste resources to make sure. Not too wise on their part, was it? But once Skin Song was up and running she would fall back under siege: Skin Song would find herself surrounded by dozens of small triangular mechs. They couldn't have been much more than a meter long each, but there numbers didn't allow for Skin Song to ft between them. Red lights began flickering to life on the small mechs, was this indicating some sort of attack? Surely mechs this size could not have powerful weapons but was it a risk she wanted to take?
Communications Relay, Akita’s Squad
Akita’s group was not making much progress trying to blow through the base’s walls. It seemed like they were made of an incredibly sturdy metal, possibly mech-grade. As if that even mattered, as most of the Squadron found themselves unable to attack the wall as several colorful UN mechs were throwing of their attack.
“Uhhh, these aren't your standard UN Mechs…” The confident voice of Akita did little to boost his troops’ morale. “The colors are all off! There's no way the UN is so, uh, lackadaisical about their mech colors, so yeah. Take care when dealing with these ones!”
