Character Profile
Name: Dante Winters
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Country of Birth: Maine, America
Personality: Despite his poor upbringing, Dante is a man of etiquette, seeking to maintain a polite and calm demeanour at all times. He is slow and cautious, choosing his words carefully and always planning a few steps ahead. Though most times he attempts to maintain a serious and businesslike persona, he will occasionally lapse into a bout of childlike mischief, or engage in a brief bout of gallows humor. Dante is soft-spoken, his words flowing with an odd rhythm. On occasion, he may quote a verse or so from poetry, usually to support his views or to disparage those of another. Despite being friendly to most, he holds grudges to those who have wronged him, and can be cruel and merciless if provoked enough.
History: Dante Evans was born into a poor family in Maine. Being an only child, and with both of his parents working into the long hours of the night to sustain the family, Dante spent much of his time alone. He passed the hours at the local library, with a particularly fondness for poetry.
When Dante was thirteen, both of his parents were killed in an attempted robbery, each shot once in the middle of the forehead. In a mixed state of anger and grief, the child was easily lured into a nefarious cult. The worship of the profane and the ghastly stoked the imagination of the young Dante, and revered tales of trickster devils and grim contracts led the child to shape his personality after his idols.
Ten years passed, and life in the cult was sinister, but did little to harm the outside world. However, all would change when the leaders of the cult prophesied a second coming of the dark ones, and attempted to enact a mass suicide. Dante’s illusions of camaraderie with his fellow cultists were soon shattered as they revealed themselves to be equal parts foolish and insane, and in an act of desperation, he stole as much as he could from the cult before fleeing across the country. Dante finally stopped running when he arrived at Fallbrook, intending on settling down to live out the rest of his days in peace. Yet these plans would soon shatter when upon one fateful night, when attacked by mountain lions while hiking, Fire and Brimstone manifested, slaughtering every animal within thirty metres and causing several bush fires.
Current Life: Dante currently resides on the outskirts Fallbrook, living in a nearby inn and paying rent with riches stolen from the cult. He works part-time at a bookstore, partly to help blend in, and partly to help refresh his constantly hemorrhaging cash flow.
Skills: Dante is a well-trained calligrapher, able to write swiftly and efficiently, as well as being able to forge signatures he is familiar with. He also possesses a deep knowledge of the supernatural, ranging from demons to angels to cryptids.
Weaknesses: When placed under large amounts of pressure, including time-sensitive situations, Dante struggles to think beyond a base instinct to survive. The tragedies within his life have left him untrusting to all but a select few, and if he feels strongly enough, he occasionally allows his paranoia to get the better of him.
Appearance: Dante stands barely over Five foot eight, his body sleek, slender and frail. Across his back and arms are weaving and stretching tattoos, depicting sagas and stories of the demonic heroes he once adored. A unkempt set of silver hair covers his head down to his jaw, and he bears a light stubble across his face. His features are sharp, not enough to be considered handsome, but not so angular as to be displeasing to the eye. Dante wears a set of slacks and a flowing black and red leather coat, often unbuttoned so as to reveal the tattoos across his chest, though with a few clasps to cover it when in public.
Other Details: Dante’s left leg has a slight limp, which is most noticeable when he is walking. He always carries a single book on him - a tattered journal, turned into a makeshift anthology of poems. Dante carries with him his wallet, with roughly $50 in it at any given time, with an extra $5 stored in the heel of his shoe in case of emergencies. He carries an assortment of three or four books with him in his satchel alongside his journal, though it's mostly just reading material. He also carries a bottle of aspirin, a few bottles of soda, a fountain pen, and a scarf and gloves for cold weather, each in separate compartments of his satchel.
Stand Profile
Stand Name: 「Fire and Brimstone」
Ability: Fire and Brimstone has two demonic submachine guns in place of hands, both of which bullets of pure flame. Despite this, the bullets can still be deflected if struck hard enough. Fire and Brimstone can charge these shots, granting them greater range and velocity like a sniper rifle, or increase the power and spread like a shotgun. The standard rapid fire shots experience minor recoil, which grows noticeably worse as the stream of fire continues. The bullets move as fast as normal bullets, and Fire and Brimstone cannot alter it’s bullets after they have been fired. After firing too many shots, Fire and Brimstone “overheats”, forcing it to cease firing for a few seconds to expunge a thick cloud of burning smoke from its mouth.
Stand Type: Long-Range Stand
Power: C (10)
Speed: D (5)
Range: B (15)
Durability: D (5)
Precision: A (20)
Learning: C (10)
Appearance: Fire and Brimstone’s true body is made of pure flame, and it’s external appearance is instead a statue-like carapace made from an obsidian-like material. The carapace resembles a traditional devil or demon from folklore, with a hulking yet gaunt body, curved horns, a pointed tail, and rows of jagged teeth with a forked tongue. The flames of the true form can be seen as an orange glow through the cracks and gaps within the carapace, which grows brighter as it begins to overheat, and dimmer as it’s life essence fades.
Example of Power: The user summons Fire and Brimstone in front of them, and fires a flurry of bullets in front of them. Fire and Brimstone is able to sustain a reasonable accuracy towards the targets for a few seconds, before degenerating into a spray and pray near the end.
