Character Profile
Name: Dr. Theodor Edmund Derka
Gender: Male
Age: 46
Country of Birth: Germany
Personality: As someone who has helped people as a doctor for most of his life, Theodor is a rather nice and helpful guy. He would be the kind of guy you describe as a cuddly teddy bear, with him being kind and encouraging. Theodor likes to spread positivity, this however is the result of him having to endure a lot of destruction and negativity in his life and him not wanting others to experience the same. If he feels like other people disrupt the peace, he can become quite harsh. He is however quick to forgive if the other person appears sincere. Since he himself has a bad day sometimes. While he may act tough at first, it quickly becomes clear that he is a rather emotional guy. It‘s not rare that he shares a tearful embrace with his friends after a great success. Occasionally this backfires as he struggles to hold himself and his feelings back after the loss of a comrade, for example.
Theodor steps forward in battle if he feels like he has to, but he concedes that he isn‘t the greatest fighter. The heat of battle gets to him and he quickly gets nervous, endangering himself. While he knows that his Stand can handle a fight, he also realizes that many other fighters are just better than him. While he probably should stay on the sidelines, he isn‘t the kind of guy who wants to watch others fight for him, so his allies may have to talk him into stepping down when he gets in over his head. But if an ally happens to be in danger, his mind suddenly becomes crystal clear and he calms down considerably, completely focusing on helping his friends out.
History: Theodor grew up in a small German village and had a simple life. His family could afford a modest lifestyle, and while his parents weren‘t abusive or anything, his father could be very strict. Theodor was always more on the soft side, and his father constantly making fun of this fact didn‘t help building his confidence. And while it may have been fine at first, this mockery soon continued in school. Not only was he a softie, he usually was the weirdly proportioned, slightly overweight one who everyone deemed weird. Soon he decided on a path that would lead him to help other people, but before he could pursue this dream, he was old enough to not only join the army, but the war. He just couldn‘t see himself fight however, and during his very first encounter he surrendered himself to American Forces, who took him as a prisoner. But soon after a fight ensued as his former colleagues tried to get him back.
A gun fight followed, and as both sides got injured, he couldn‘t handle the stress and suddenly everyone around him got knocked unconscious. Without realizing whats happening and without any medical knowledge, he managed to treat the wounds of both sides. They were his former comrades and he didn‘t want to be the reason they died, but he also didn‘t agree with the German side and stayed with the Americans. The first time he met Die Ärzte, it freaked him out, but while he didn‘t grasp the concept of Stands, he knew that he acquired something special which could help many people. Even though he was technically a prisoner, the Americans saw his talent as a medic and let him treat their wounds, not understanding that this was a supernatural force at work. Soon he was allowed more freedom and he made several friends among the Americans.
Current Life: After the war he stayed in America, trying to stay in contact with his family through letters. He pursued a medical career and actually became a real doctor. He also experimented with his stand a lot more, realizing the possibilities in combat and in medicine. While others would easily abuse powers like this, he made sure to only use it for good. Right now he has a small office in New York, where he mostly works alone. He wouldn‘t mind having his own family, but he focused so much on his career. Now he is afraid that he is too old.
Skills: Medicine, Smart, Empathy, Staying calm when helping allies, Good emotional support, Forgiving, German cooking
Weaknesses: Dry humor, Not very athletic, Gets too emotional, Easily stressed out and exhausted during fights, Bad eyesight without glasses
Appearance: Theodor is a middle-aged, slightly overweight guy with short brown hair which starts to turn gray on the sides, and brown-grayish sideburns. His wrinkled face gives him a rough look and makes him appear older than he is. He wears glasses on top of his big nose and he always carries an extra pair just in case. He likes to wear a classical German Tyrolean hat from time to time. He usually wears a white shirt and brown pants, held up by a pair of suspenders. Most of the time he carries a bag which contains basic first aid supplies, especially when he expects to use them.
Other Details: Even though he has lived in America for many years now, some German phrases or similar things might sneak through.
Stand Profile
Stand Name: Die Ärzte
Ability: Es wird eng – Die Ärzte has the ability to reorganize organs, bones and basically everything else inside a living things‘ body on contact. While he can‘t harm a person directly this way, for example by ripping their heart out, he can affect the body in both positive and negative ways. The organs etc. have to stay contained within the boundaries of a body. While moving the organs may be uncomfortable at first, over time the body will adjust to the new placement. Given a couple seconds time the stand can easily discern some basic information about the recipents vitals like heart rate, breathing and blood type. Die Ärzte can‘t affect the body of its user.
Stand Type: Close Range
Power: D
Speed: B
Range: D
Durability: D
Precision: A
Learning: B
Appearance: Die Ärzte is a humanoid Stand with red skin which appears to wear a white suit. On the back of the suit is a big black outline of a +-symbol and the shoulder pads are red and white triangles, similar to road signs. Instead of a face it has three squares in place of it‘s eyes. While the palm of the hand appears round and metal like a stethoscope, the fingers are long and thin like needles. There are some vein-like lines connecting the stands hands to it‘s head which start to glow and move like a heart rate monitor when Die Ärzte uses it‘s ability. The stand has no personality on its own, and it‘s beatdown battlecry is „Schön!/Schönen Tag noch!“
Example of Power: While his Stand beatdown is probably below average, he can use his ability in conjunction to shake the brain of his enemy around or displace their heart. This way he manipulates the flow of blood and oxygen to make his enemy dizzy or even cause a concussion. If the enemy is already injured, for example a broken arm, he can worsen the condition by moving the broken bones around.
But Die Ärzte can also use those abilities as a form of healing for allies. While he can‘t exactly heal wounds like similar stands, he can rearrange a broken arm to ease the pain, or move and connect veins to restore blood flow. Die Ärzte could also use this ability as a preemptive method to protect allies against potentially fatal blows. If an ally would be shot in the head, Die Ärzte could move the brain out of the way to prevent more serious injuries. While it doesn‘t feel pleasant, it is assumed that most people prefer this over getting shot in the head.
Die Ärzte can‘t move an organ beyond outside of a body, but if the recipent already has a big enough wound, he could move things around in a way that you could see the heart through a gunshot wound, for example.
If two bodies are connected in some way, Die Ärzte can move body parts in between them. This way he can perform transfusions or transplants in an emergency.
