CHARACTER PROFILE
Name:
Florence Demaschine
Age:
22
Country of Birth:
Germany (British parents)
Country of Residence:
United States of America
Languages Spoken:
English, German
Personality:
Florence expects the best out of everything and everyone around her, including herself. A born socialite and perfectionist, Florence is immediately outgoing, but equally quick to displease. Something as little as the wrong temperature in drink is to shift her from the life of the party to someone overtaken by her 'sensibilities'. She's the product of the high society life she was brought up in and is eager to demonstrate to people that she's cut from a better cloth - if not by social etiquette, then by combat.
History:
Florence's great grandfather was a great explorer and archaeologist, whose studies accrued not just a great amount of treasures and artifacts, but knowledge of all the world's customs. In particular, he took a great interest in the sensibilities of fighting, tactics and martial arts. His son, too, shared his interests in conflict and through clever investments of his father's fortunes profited greatly - stocks in munitions companies, sponsorships of boxers and other fighters, shares in clothing companies specialising in sportswear and fighting gear. Over four generations, the Demaschine Trust - or one of their many subsidiaries - has found itself inside any dojo, gym or arena the world over, and the family's collection of ancient weapons, war scrolls and other priceless artifacts is something to behold.
Florence, on the other hand, would rather profit from combat as a participant rather than an investor.
For most of her teens, Florence found herself bouncing between schools, learning of all the tricks of the trade she would need to succeed in the world of business to be next in line for the management of the Demaschine brand. Alternating between the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany, Florence first broke out onto the scene as a model, and to this day can typically be seen on posters or in magazines as the face of the Trust's or the 'Empires' brand of perfume the organisation had tried to introduce in order to 'branch out'. How dresses and perfumes were supposed to aid in the Trust's supposed ideal of finding the world's strongest fighter she had no idea, but it likely wasn't going to lure any women into the octagon or a dojo.
Nor did it answer any questions about the invisible spirit hanging over her shoulder. A few texts and scrolls amongst her family's grand collection did - but nothing substantial.
Having just completed a recent fashion show in Miami, Florence hopes that her time in the States will be a little more eventful than her usual trips. Should have been careful what she wished for.
Notable Skills:
Florence comes from a family that defines itself on excellence, and having been given the 'job' of representing the Trust's high-end market has rubbed off on Florence quite nicely. She's exceptionally good at noticing knockoffs and forgeries, and her sense of taste and smell is top notch. In addition, coming from a family line that's spent the past hundred years studying martial arts and warfare in all its forms has made her respectable when it comes to hand to hand combat as well - at least as far as ordinary people are concerned.
Notable Weaknesses:
While Florence could probably handle herself quite comfortably in the face of a robber with a knife, against a fellow Stand user, she'd probably have her hands full. She's far from well-practised with her Stand, and its unique ability has a notable drawback that has a good chance of making an enemy even more deadly. Most of Florence's flaws are social in nature; haughty, arrogant, snobbish and derisive, and with an elaborate wardrobe sense that has made stealth and subtlety all but impossible to her. To travel with Florence is to be noticed.
Important Items:
Dresses, perfumes and jewelry - and plenty of all three. Other than that, her family has a lot of valuable trinkets and the like stored at their family estate, but that's off in Germany. So instead all Florence has to fend for herself is her copious amounts of wealth.
Appearance:
Florence stands at roughly five foot seven with a modestly tanned complexion and a rather messy shoulder-length head of brunette hair, held partially in place by a pair of far-eastern style hairpins. Her typical dress of choice is a long, luxiurious looking silk dress that reflects almost like real gold, usually with some feathered gloves and an elaborate silver belt and necklace to offer a little additional finery. What the gap in her skirt betrays is that the shoes she wears are closer to strapped tabi than an expected dress boot or heels. She also wears a red silk headband, with preference being to have it cover her right eye, for whatever reason - it's perfectly functional underneath.

STAND PROFILE
Name: [LOVE OVER GOLD]
Ability:
Contextual Durability - Whenever [LOVE OVER GOLD] interacts with an object, how strong that object is becomes immediately dependent on how much worth Florence assigns to it. If Florence has no emotional attachment to the object whatsoever, or deems it to have no value, then the object loses all its structure - crumbling like grains of sand in [LOVE OVER GOLD]'s grip, or is punched through like sandpaper. Conversely, if Florence believes the object is valuable or of massive importance to the current situation, then the object becomes harder than diamond and near indestructible for as long as [LOVE OVER GOLD] is in contact with it. This property can also be applied to people - meaning if Florence was so inclined, she could turn every stranger she came across into paste. Luckily she's not such a sociopath.
There is an obvious and exploitable weakness to this power - [LOVE OVER GOLD] cannot discriminate between whether or not the object's importance is a good thing or not. If someone is coming at Florence with a knife, then dealing with him is Florence's top priority - meaning that [LOVE OVER GOLD] would deem the attacker to be important to the situation at the present time and thus, would not be able to hurt them, as its ability to amplify something's durability exceeds its own strength.
Along the same lines, were Florence trying to escape into a building through a locked front door - if Florence was barreling through and saw the way forward as incidental, then turning the door into splinters would be effortless. However, if Florence reached the door, discovered it was locked, and needed to get it open in a hurry, then all of a sudden the door has become a priority and cannot be destroyed so easily. As stated in the power's name, context is the most important part of the Stand's power - which means that to get the most out of it, Florence often has to act before she thinks.
Type: Close-Range Stand
Power: B
Speed: C
Range: E
Durability: A
Precision: B
Learning: D
Appearance:
[LOVE OVER GOLD] is mostly humanoid in appearance. A gold, metallic material forms the texture of its skin. The crux of its torso is hollow, appearing like a misshapen and twisted birdcage attached to facsimiles of muscular human limbs. The head appears as a woman's, facing sideways and flattened, like the viewer was staring at the face of a coin.
