Name: Paul A. Storm
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Country of Birth: United Kingdom
Country of Residence: Mars Colony
Languages Spoken: English
Personality: Paul is a joker, sometimes for the better. Other times not. Though he is rather clever, his lackluster physical strength makes him a bit shy to others at first. Once he’s gotten to know them, however, Paul is cracking wise about most everything. Though he prefers intelligent conversation, he won’t refrain from making an easy joke. He’s a man who stands by his friends, and doesn’t want to lose them due to his past.
History: Paul Storm grew up in Sewerby, a lowly tinkerer and upstart novelist. Somehow, though he doesn’t recall how, he came into possession of a red college-ruled notebook. He decided to keep it as his design journal. One day, when he went to sketch, the graphite tendrils of Da Vinci’s Notebook reached out and assembled a toaster operated via running wheel. Even more disturbing, when he accidentally tore a page, a massive gash appeared on his leg. He knew that he had to keep it secret, but his fooling around with designs eventually got him and posh Bridlington girl Inya Warr Drobe found out. He was promptly booted to Mars.
Current Life: On Mars, Paul works as a mechanic, salvage trader, and inventor, though his creations and mods are highly unpopular. His novels have never taken off. (Nor will they ever.)
Skills: Paul is intelligent, and a quick thinker. He’s also very creative, and a touch inventive.
Weaknesses: Is easily distracted by comedic situations, and can be overly emotional at times. Paul is also physically weak.
Appearance: Paul’s hair is short and brown; his eyes are the same color. He wears thin glasses to correct his farsightedness. He wears mostly casual clothes, a dark red jacket over a grey shirt, and dark jeans. He is fairly tall, but thin.
Other Details: Used to sing acapella, has mild stage fright, and is deathly afraid of brass instruments. (Don’t ask)
Name: Da Vinci’s Notebook
Appearance: A simple college-ruled red spiral notebook.
Ability: The notebook possesses an incredible ability to invent and modify. Touching pencil to paper will create a (completely over-complicated) design. Tendrils of graphite then shoot out and either build the new machine, or modify an existing one. Unfortunately, Da Vinci’s Notebook can only make extremely complex and unusual designs, making actual use of the creations or modifications difficult. (But never impossible)
New inventions from Da Vinci's Notebook are entirely random, something Paul laments often. They also have a clear size limitation. The largest invention ever created purely from the notebook was about the size of small car, about 4.5 m in length and 4m in width. It was a semi-spherical armored vehicle which was operated via nine different levers.
Type: Bound stand
Power: E
Speed: C
Range: B
Durability: E
Precision: A
Learning: A
Example: Paul touches pencil to paper, and a new design for a bike appears which requires eight people to drive. Each of them must steer their respective two wheels. Graphite shoots from the page, and gathers and shapes itself into this bike. The new inventions are typically smaller, strange, and seemingly useless. If Paul decides to modify an existing device, it takes the design and overcomplicates it. A system that once required you to push a pedal and go now requires you to turn a crank whilst alternating presses on three pedals. It still goes, but it becomes incredibly inconvenient.
Name: Metal Shop
Height: 24.8 meters
Firepower: A
Accuracy: B
Melee: E
Speed: E
Maneuverability: C
Durability: A
Appearance: Metal Shop, frankly, looks like a mess. This is mostly because Paul doesn’t think of it as a mecha. It’s his store, which simply happens to have a bunch of guns and several armored layers. Originally, Metal Shop was just a walker frame Paul found in the wake of a battle. He managed to get that running, and considered that good enough for his store. When he decided to join the rebellion himself, his mech fused with this walker frame. Linking with Da Vinci's Notebook, the new armored shell was extremely complex, originally requiring two to pilot. Now, on his own, Paul has modified it to at least be operable solo. The two pieces of Metal Shop make it look like a strange, metal turtle. The bottom edge of the shell is covered in thrusters meant for flight. Still, the shape and size of Metal Shop make it difficult to maneuver. It is much better suited for acting as a mobile gun-platform and storage.
Weapons and Abilities:
2 forward facing main guns, firing armor piercing and high-explosive rounds.
4 automated machine-gun turrets on the top of the “shell”.
Can deploy itself, lowering its body to the ground and lowering the right wall. This is how Paul sets up shop.
Metal Shop carries a massive amount of tools, salvage and scrap, which Paul sells alongside the notebook’s inventions. The inventions don't sell as well as the rest of his inventory.
Metal Shop also has a “super-shield”, named by Paul. It requires him to run from one end of the mech to the other, but after doing that and throwing a few levers, another thick layer of armor falls over the whole mech. In this form, it cannot use any guns, but is relatively safe.
The shield only lasts for 20 minutes.
Stand Burst: ME Make Fire: While driving, Paul touches pencil to paper on the notebook. It randomly creates a one use weapon, called by Metal Shop the Massive Effect gun. It attaches to a mechanism under the body of Metal Shop and fires. Whatever the weapon, it usually creates large explosions and fire.
